Could CBD Alter ACE2 in COVID 19

With the past year of constant COVID19 news, of course, CBD had to get some attention. Normally in the natural world, CBD comes up in nearly every disease condition as a possible therapy. At our clinic, we have found some uses to be helpful and others not so helpful. Researchers considered whether CBD might affect ACE2 levels. This protein is critical for the entry of SARS CoV2 virus into human cells. Lowering it could potentially lower the virus’ ability to infect.
The research did find that extracts from some strains of C sativa, which makes CBD, could lower both ACE2 receptor and TMPRSS2, another important cellular protein for COVID 19. My question is whether lowering ACE2 might increase blood pressure and have other secondary consequences. More research is needed before use of CBD in hypertensive COVID 19 patients.
